In the spirit of local community involvement, Rymes Energy of New Hampshire, suppliers of propane gas on Martha’s Vineyard, has partnered with Martha’s Vineyard Hospital to support breast cancer awareness through the company’s Pink-Ribbon propane truck campaign.

“Few things draw more attention than a pink truck,” company president Jim Rymes said. “We want every person who stops and asks the question, ‘Why is that truck pink,?’ to become more aware, not only of the disease, but also what they can do to promote early detection.”

Rymes donates at least one cent per gallon to the hospital for each gallon that the pink truck delivers. That added up to $5,000 this year. Rymes and the Hospital hope to raise awareness of a disease that has touched so many people, both on Martha’s Vineyard and throughout the world, Mr. Rymes said.

Rymes Propane Gas began serving customers on Martha’s Vineyard just over one year ago, according to a press release. “It feels great to give back to the community that has welcomed us with open arms,” Mr. Rymes said. “From the very first day, we have been overwhelmed by the warm reception we have received.”
