I am sorry that Sen. Dan Wolf has to resign. He seems to have been working properly in our interests, as he should be. But it sure makes no sense to remove Cape Air access to Logan Airport. Thanks, Dan, for once again putting our interests first.

Jay Schofield will share Pearls of Patriotism from his new book written from others’ personal memoirs, bringing American history to life. He will be at the Vineyard Haven Library Tuesday evening at 7 pm.

Our children’s librarian at the library helped me select some stories on CDs for my visiting grandchildren to hear in the car. Both the 6-year-old and the 8-year-old delighted in an old story called Half Magic. I thought it was a pretty good tale as well. Thanks, Felicia.

The new Film Center is simply wonderful. But the audience has been less than careful about using the parking in front of other businesses. Now the parking is limited to one hour in front of any open business. Theater goers should park around back.

Ever wonder why the Garden Club announces beautification awards just when flower boxes start to look bedraggled? The ladies are picking the best ones now and in September. That means this is the time you should enjoy the lovely plantings your business neighbors put in to make your town more attractive. Do you ever think to compliment the shopkeepers for this?

Did you know that most drugs shouldn’t be flushed? The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends that you dispose of medications in your household trash. Remove medications from the original container and mix them with an undesirable substance, such as cat-box filler or used coffee grounds. Seal the mixture in a disposable container, such as a plastic bag. Remove any personal information. Place the sealed mixture and empty drug containers in the trash. Ask your pharmacist if your medication is on the FDA flush list to know whether you should flush them down the sink or toilet. Better yet: take all prescription medications to the Tisbury Police station.

Happy anniversary today to David and Elizabeth Beim.

Big bunches of birthday balloon wishes go to Cynthia Walker today. On Saturday wish the best to Jessica Dolliver. Happy birthday on Monday to Edwin Gould-Hart. Tuesday belongs to island artist Maggie Masek.
