Jeffrey P. Kurth died peacefully at his home in Chilmark on August 10, 2013 surrounded by loved ones. He was 68.
Born in Johnson City, New York, Jeffrey was the son of the late Conrad and Georgiana Kurth.
After moving to the Vineyard with his family in 1956, Jeffrey attended public schools, graduating from Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School in 1962. He spent the next four years in Laredo, Texas, with the U.S. Air Force.
Upon his return to the Vineyard, Jeff went into the Well Drilling and Plumbing business with his father, subsequently becoming the proud owner of C. Kurth and Sons.
Jeffrey was the loving husband of Anne (Ryan) Kurth, father to Jeffrey Jr., Jason, Krissy, Ryan, and Matthew, and grandfather to Jason D. Kurth. He was the brother of Conrad (Sara), Mark, Gary (Beth), Gregory (Brenda), Wayne (Gigi), Pamela Zimmer (Tom), Arlene Hinckley (Liz), Deborah Searle (Alex), Wendy Winner (Ron), and the late David Kurth.
He was also the best uncle to many fun-loving nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his love of family, quick wit, his generosity, and his positive attitude.
Jeff was laid to rest in the Abel’s Hill Cemetery on August 15, 2013 with full military honors. Donations may be made in his name to Martha’s Vineyard Little League, 78 N. William Street, Tisbury, MA 02568, att: Lorne Lewis.
