The fifth annual Cycle Martha’s Vineyard bicycle ride is coming up on Sunday, October 6. Sponsored by the Martha’s Vineyard Rotary Club, the ride is a fundraiser that supports the Rotary general charity fund. The fund is used to support many Island groups.

There are two riding options, both starting and ending at the Portuguese-American club in Oak Bluffs. The 100-kilometer (62 miles) route begins at 9:45 am and the 50K (30 miles) route begins at 11 am. The entry fee is $100 ($90 for returning riders). There will be live music and a pig roast after the ride and riders will receive a tee-shirt.

Bill Brown, a Rotary member and a principal organizer of the ride, said the event has averaged about 100 riders each year. As in past years, there will be two service and gear (SAG) stops for mechanical support during the ride.

Registration will open at 8:30 the morning of the ride. For more information and to register online go to www.cyclemarthasvineyard.org.
