Oak Bluffs has hired Christopher Forgette to fill a newly created full-time job reviewing plans and enforcing codes for both the building department and the board of health.
“We had a lot of trepidation as to whether we could find the right candidate that met all the criteria we were looking for, and we found a very qualified candidate with Christopher Forgette,” town administrator Robert Whritenour said in a press statement this week.
Mr. Forgette is certified in residential construction and septic installation and runs his own construction company in Maryland. He was in the process of moving to the Island because his wife has begun work at the regional high school, according to the statement.
“It’s kind of magic that the person with the perfect qualifications for this job picked this time to move to the Island,” said Mr. Whritenour. Mr. Forgette will start later this month.
In other town business, the selectmen have set November 12 as the date for a special town meeting. Proposed articles for the meeting warrant are due September 27.
