At a pad, packing, pecking
That person there and there.
Slouched over computer keyboard,
Over key pad.
It seems a coffeehouse was a barnyard
And we were all hens.
Give me pen and paper, lips and tongue,
A mind to sense and shape sound.
To leave markings in beach sand
Before a lunar tide.
