The third annual Martha’s Vineyard Wind Festival, the brainchild of well-known arts community member Holly Alaimo, is this Saturday, Oct. 12.

The day starts at 10:30 am with free kite-making for children until 12 noon. Children’s flying competitions begin at 12 noon, teens compete from 1 to 2 pm, and the adult competition is from 2 to 4 pm; there is also a model sailboat event and frisbee games for children, all to the tune of live music by The Flying Elbows from 1 to 3 pm. At 4 pm, everyone is welcome to fly their kites together.

All events take place at Ocean Park in Oak Bluffs. The rain date is Sunday, Oct. 13.
