To the Editor:
I am writing to thank the Black Dog for its incredible generosity to our animal rescue program, Angels Helping Animals of Martha’s Vineyard. Initially, they helped to raise awareness in the community regarding the many facets of our program by requesting donations at each of their Island stores. In addition, they donated all proceeds from the Dog Pawrade, held at the Black Dog Campus on Saturday, September 21, 2013, to the rescue program.
Many healthy, adoptable dogs have been rescued and placed in loving homes on Martha’s Vineyard. Without help from the community, it is impossible to keep up with vet bills, spaying and neutering, food and transportation for these delightful dogs. Many lives have been saved, and numerous dogs can now be spayed and neutered before they are adopted.
Thanks to the Black Dog, Angels Helping Animals on Martha’s Vineyard can continue placing dogs here on the Island and saving adorable, healthy pups that would otherwise be euthanized. In the past two years we have placed 170 dogs in happy homes throughout New England.
