Ghost Island Farm creates a giant pumpkin

Tuesday evening, Rusty Gordon and Megan Mendenhall applied the finishing touches to their giant jack-o’-lantern in front of the Ghost Island Farm stand on State Road in West Tisbury..

Rusty Gordon of Ghost Island Farm on State Road in West Tisbury didn’t grow any pumpkins big enough for a child to live in this year, so to get ready for Halloween he made one out of chicken wire, paper-mâché, and orange paint.

Megan Mendenhall of West Tisbury, a farm employee, applied the finishing touches of orange paint on Tuesday night while Mr. Gordon carved what one wag declared “The biggest jack-o’-lantern in town.”
