Wonderful community event
To the Editor:
A glorious fall day ushered in more than 200 friends and neighbors to the Tisbury School's 10th annual Harvest Festival. The Harvest Festival has become a well-loved tradition at the Tisbury School. This wonderful community event included a potluck supper, hayrides, live music, as well as games and activities for all ages.
Sponsored by the PTO, the Harvest Festival is our largest annual community outreach event. There is no admission fee and all activities are free of charge. It is with great appreciation that we thank the Tisbury School 7th and 8th grade community service volunteers, as well as the many parents who contributed their time to help with the event.
A very special thank you to Julie Brand for organizing the pumpkin decorating; Mr. Jim Hickey for organizing the catapult station; John and Janet Packer for providing the hayrides. Many thanks to Jean DaSilva and Kenia Aredes for providing the popcorn and cotton candy, which was a great delight to the children. Thank you Elle Lash, Claire Lafave, and Erin Block of Island Grown Schools for coordinating the widely popular cider press activity.
We were extremely grateful to Rob Myers and Friends for providing the live music. We thank you for sharing your musical gifts with us.
As always, it is with great appreciation that we thank our school's leadership, Principal John Custer and Associate Principal Sean Mulvey, whose continued support of our community events allows us to reach all families at the Tisbury School.
