The Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center invites the Island community to attend a Shabbat service starting at 5:30 pm, Friday, November 8, to honor veterans, merchant mariners, and those involved in military service, past and present. Rabbi Caryn Broitman will lead the service.

Yahrzeit (memorial) candles will be lighted during the service to pay homage to those who served, were killed in action, or have died.

Those who attend the service also may participate with a tribute or reading, to memorialize loved ones or friends who served their country.

An Oneg Shabbat with light refreshments will follow the service.

Dukes County Director of Veterans Services Jo Ann Murphy will attend and be available to answer any veteran-related questions. For more information, call 508-693-0745.
