To the Editor:

Martha’s Vineyard Community Services thanks the Martha’s Vineyard community for showing your support of our agency this fall. The people of this Island are truly generous, and we applaud and thank you for your encouragement and assistance, as we continue the vital work we do.

We truly appreciate your condolences, the instantaneous offers of support and collaboration, as well as the sending of your respects, following the tragic loss of one of our treasured Island Counseling Center staff members.

Thank you for attending our MVCS benefit night at Flatbread Company — and thanks to Flatbread and Tina Miller for providing such a wonderful night for pizza, socializing, and benevolence.

We are grateful to the community for disposing of your tired and worn electronics at our Fall Electronics Disposal Day on Saturday, October 12. Thank you to Greg Carroll and his excellent team at Bruno’s, which sponsored this event, and especially to Scott Carroll, who assisted with all aspects of the day, including the heavy lifting. A special thank you as well to all of our wonderful volunteers, including MVCS staff and board members, as well as Brian Kennedy and the Dukes County Community Corrections Division.

To those who strolled through Edgartown with our CONNECT to end violence team in its sixth annual Domestic Violence Awareness Walk on October 26, thank you. By supporting this great program, you are helping to reduce domestic and sexual violence on Martha’s Vineyard.

We greatly appreciate all who attended our Daybreak Clubhouse open house in Vineyard Haven on October 28, and thank our members and the Daybreak team that welcomed the community into their clubhouse, where they provide meaningful work, friendships, and opportunities for adults coping with mental illness.

For your continued support of our MVCS Family Center, we thank you. Early Childhood Programs looks forward to inviting the entire community to check out the new Family Center site in Vineyard Haven after the first of the year. Kudos to Chuck Hughes, Rubin Cronig, and the board of Nathan Mayhew Seminars.

And finally, thank you for your support of our fantastic Chicken Alley Thrift Shop and its many marvelous events, most recently, the Flock Halloween Dance Party — which was a resounding success.
