Time to celebrate the three F’s: family, friends, and food — as well as the optional fourth, football. Everyone has been sending details of their plans for travels near and far, and culinary ambitions, whether traditional or first attempts.

We will be enjoying our first ever Thanksgiving double-feature, beginning at Marie and TM Araujo’s house with my in-laws, Anne and Gary Weagle, and Dave’s gramp, Carmine, visiting from Rutland and Worcester, followed by an evening Dolby feast across town.

It’s off to the annual Thanksmas meeting for Andrea Dello Russo and her children, Summer and Hudson Riordon. Andrea has teamed up with brother, Matthew, and his wife and daughter, Paula and Ruby, to rent a cargo van this year for the 10-plus-hour trek to Maryland. Quoth Andrea of the upcoming excursion, “Stinky feet and McDonalds farts here we come!”

Barbara Phillips is eagerly awaiting daughter Leah D’Amato and son-in-law, Joe, with their twin girls and Edgartown column regulars, Madeline and Mallory, as well as son Andrew. Poor Geoffrey has to work this year, so you guys will have to save him some leftovers.

Collette, Philip, Stevie Jordan will be home from school for Thanksgiving to join parents, Katie and Steve. Edward and Missy Jordan and their two boys will be coming from N.J., and the whole crew will be meeting up at their house in Katama for T-Day dinner, including a “Stuffing Throw Down.” Hmm, will it be the fancy stuff or the good ol’ traditional stuff? (Katie would like to remind you all to bring some shopping to your local Edgartown businesses for Black Friday, and invites you to visit her at In The Pink for some “Colorful Friday” deals.)

Ryan Murtha will be heading to New York for his fourth Thanksgiving meal in a month, which began with a turkey-fry at our house a few weeks ago. Turn to Ryan for any tips you might need on avoiding turkey fatigue, as his month has been about as fowl as it gets!

Arielle and Jesse Hayes will be celebrating their first Thanksgiving back in Edgartown since first moving to the Island, keeping it simple with only sons Miles and Christian and the dog in attendance this year, which will be a break from their usual overflowing tables of 20 or so. On the menu for the first time are butterscotch pot de creme and sweet potato cheesecake. Hm…you know your house is right between our two destinations?

Then again, if the Hayeses can’t spare a slice of cheesecake, I’ll just head out to Katama, where Richard Prieto will be chefing up a double-layer pumpkin cheesecake. And right down the street from there, a very excited Condlin family will be awaiting grandkids Darby and Kiefer for some holiday fun.

If you’re looking for something to do with the kids this weekend, the Edgartown Library is hosting several events. First off, on Friday, November 29, beginning at 3 pm, enjoy a reading of “Latkes and Applesauce: A Hanukkah Story,” by Fran Manushkin, accompanied by a holiday snack of fresh-cooked latkes served with applesauce. At this week’s story hour, Saturday, November 30, at 10:30 am, T.J. Batts and Lauren Ricks will read from their new children’s books they have written, called Broccolihead and Carrottop. Later Saturday, beginning at 3 pm, watch a film that tells the behind-the-scenes story of the famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. For more info about these events, call 508-627-4221 or visit www.edgartownlibrary.org.

Happy, happy birthday to my cousin, John Morgan, who celebrates November 29. Additional birthday wishes go out to Ryan Ruley on November 30; to Willie Bailey (another cousin!), Alyssa Starzyk, and Mark Smadbeck on December 1; and to Thayer Whipple on December 4. Have a good one. And have a safe and joyous holiday, everyone.
