On Tuesday, December 3, at 1 pm at the Oak Bluffs Library, the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development will hold a public information session to discuss possibilities for a downtown revitalization effort. Experts from WalkBoston, the Cecil Group, and officials from communities that have successfully revitalized their downtowns will be on hand to share their experiences with topics as diverse as zoning, business development, design and building reuse, growth management, and small business participation.
On December 4, town volunteers, together with the Oak Bluffs Association, will conduct a survey of the downtown business district. The survey is the first step in evaluating the physical and structural condition of the downtown business district, according to a press release. The goal is a downtown revitalization project. Volunteers will be out with clipboards, and a photographer will document the condition of buildings, streets, sidewalks, lighting, landscaping, and infrastructure.
