You can celebrate the holidays in many different ways on Martha’s Vineyard, from visiting the light display at the Gatchell home in Oak Bluffs and the beautifully-lit Ocean Park, to hearing your neighbors sing at the various holiday concerts happening this month.

The Minnesingers, the student group from the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, perform twice at the Old Whaling Church during Christmas in Edgartown. Hear them on Friday, Dec. 13, at 8 pm and again on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 4 pm. Friday’s admission is $15; Saturday’s is $10, free for children 12 and under. For more information, call the Edgartown Board of Trade at 508-627-4440.

The First Congregational Church in West Tisbury’s concert is on Sunday, Dec. 15. The choir presents Benjamin Britten’s “A Ceremony of Carols” and other seasonal favorites at 4 pm. Admission is $15; free for students. Call 508-693-2842 for more information.

The Performing Arts Department of the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School takes the stage on Thursday, Dec. 17. Hear students in the Concert Band, Jazz Band, String Orchestra, Freshman and Mixed choruses, and Vocal Ensemble perform a variety of seasonal and secular music. The show starts at 7 pm, and is free.

Reflections of Peace, a true celebration of the spirit of the community, is on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 7:30 pm. A benefit for Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard, the 17th annual concert features Island musicians performing a variety of secular and Christmas songs. Each year, Kevin Ryan arranges for local and visiting musicians to perform. This year’s performers include harpist Sandra Bitterman, organist Wesley Brown, cellist and pianist Jan Hyer and Wes Nagy, father and daughter duo Brian and Avalon Weiland, and singing ensemble Novum. Peter Boak provides accompaniment and direction. Returning for the fourth year is special guest pianist Lisa Weiss. The concert is at Our Lady Star of the Sea church in Oak Bluffs, and admission is $20, all of which goes to the nonprofit. For more information, call 508-627-3166.

On Sunday, Dec. 22, hear the Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School and Community Chorus’s 12th annual Winter Concert: Songs of Peace, Hope, and Light, at the M.V. Hebrew Center in Vineyard Haven. The show starts at 5 pm, and is led by Roberta Kirn. For more information, call 774-563-0318.
