The Oak Bluffs 2012 annual report has won first place in the statewide town report contest sponsored by the Massachusetts Municipal Association (MMA).

Last week, selectmen commended office administrator Alice Butler for her work on the report, which she has compiled and edited for the past 19 years. Ms. Butler will attend the annual MMA meeting in January in Boston, where she will accept the award.

The MMA contest awards first, second and third place to towns in three size categories — population under 5,000; population between 5,000-12,499; and population 12,500-plus. The Oak Bluffs report won the under 5,000 category.

This isn’t the first time the town report has won the award under Ms. Butler’s guidance. “We’ve won several times,” Ms. Butler said, “I’m honestly not sure how many.”

Ms. Butler is currently working on the the 2013 report, which will be out in April, before the annual town meeting. She’s open to artwork submissions for the report cover.

“I try to find art done by people in the community,” Ms. Butler said. “We’re open to all different mediums, photos, sketches, paintings, whatever the artist wants to do,” she said. Ms. Butler also likes to include photos of the town in the body of the report.

To submit artwork for consideration, residents can email her at abutler@oakbluffsma.gov or drop it by her office at town hall, 56 School Street.
