Robert Mone and the insurance company that bears his name have for years teamed with the Arbella Insurance Group to support many of the Island nonprofit efforts to help Vineyarders in need. The total of their joint efforts since 2005 is greater than $55,000.
The support has gone to the Red Cross, the Island Food Pantry, Martha’s Vineyard Arena, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard, Big Brother, Big Sister, the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, and this year, to One Fund Boston.
Mr. Mone, who lives in West Tisbury with his wife Gayle, founded his Beach Road insurance company in 1994. He is its sole owner. He has served as a member of the Martha’s Vineyard Commission and as an assessor in West Tisbury. His company’s generosity is multiplied by contributions from the Arbella Insurance Foundation on a one-third-two-thirds formula.
“The only way I know to show how much I love the Vineyard and what the community does for all of us is to try to make some annual monetary contributions to local charities and non profit entities that we all cherish and appreciate,” Mr. Mone told The Times. “Since 2005, Mone Insurance has partnered with the Arbella Insurance Foundation to donate to some of the worthy entities that Gayle and I choose. I have felt that it is the obligation of Mone Insurance to give back what it can, to show my appreciation for the success of my business and the people of the Vineyard that make it all possible.”
