For the fifth time in the last seven years, the husband-and-wife team of Mas and Sue Kimball of Oak Bluffs are the number one ranked team in the United States Tennis Association’s Husband & Wife Combined-Age 120 Division. Competing in the division for seven years, the couple solidified their position with a third-place finish in the indoor national championships in Charlottesville, Virginia, on December 14.

“We had a meltdown in the semifinals which we carried into our third-place match against a team we’ve played and beaten several times. They had us 5-1 in the first set before we got it together and ran 12 straight games to win 7-5, 6-0,” Mr. Kimball said in a conversation with The Times from their seasonal home in the Bahamas.

The Kimballs previously won the husband and wife Hard Court Nationals, played November 17-21 in Palm Desert, California.
