The Martha’s Vineyard eighth grade girls travel basketball team is 8-0 and ranked fifth on the Select Hoops website, following a pair of wins last weekend. First, the girls hosted Falmouth and won, 31-17. Devin Hill was the top scorer with 10 points. Molly deBettencourt was stellar at both ends of the court, scoring eight points and holding Falmouth’s top scorer to just nine points with staunch second-half defense.
The Vineyard finished up the weekend with a 37-20 road victory over Rochester. With M.V. up 24-4 at halftime, every player on the roster got a chance to play. Devin Hill and Kat Roberts were the top scorers with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Molly deBettencourt scored eight and was an outstanding playmaker throughout.
The girls next play at Plymouth North on Saturday, then return home the same day to play Dartmouth at 2 pm.
