West Tisbury selectmen, acting on a recommendation from the zoning board of appeals (ZBA), at their meeting on Wednesday, January 8, rescinded a January 8 vote to appoint Julius Lowe to a five-year term on the ZBA.

Selectmen then appointed the more experienced ZBA member, Nancy Cole, currently serving a three-year term, to the five-year term. Mr. Lowe, who is new to the board, was appointed to fill the vacant three-year seat.

In other business, selectmen opened a public hearing on a proposal from NSTAR to run a cable under Indian Hill Road to provide power to a private residence. Selectman Richard Knabel asked if the newly resurfaced road would have to be torn up. An NSTAR representative said she thought the cable would be pushed through a hole drilled under the road without disturbing the road. There no further comment and the public hearing was closed after less than five minutes.

Selectmen next meet on January 22.
