Change leaves some with our insurance coverage

Change leaves some with our insurance coverage

by -

To the Editor:

The residents of Dukes County are being denied medical coverage on the Island of Martha’s Vineyard, due to an oversight of MassHealth politicians. People who were before enrolled in programs like MassHealth Essentials and others, which are no longer offered as of January 1, were automatically enrolled in the BMC HealthCare Plus program, which no one on the Island — particularly the only hospital — accepts.

Representatives and supervisors on the MassHealth call line can only tell people they can change their coverage to something the hospital and others will take starting February 1, which leaves many of us without needed medical services until then.

  1. Hope and Change, ObamaCareless cancelled my plan too. I love politicians, NOT!

  2. I’m already 4 months into the Obamacare process here in NJ. So far no insurance at all after signing up in October only a ” confirmation number”. I just got home from a week in hospital where I underwent two emergency cancer surgeries. So far nobody can tell me at the hospital/county/state or national level if I’m REALLY covered. All I’m told is that there are problems at the county level (Essex) that are nothing but an unmitigated disaster. After all it’s Essex county.
BTW I liked my “old plan”.
