Friends of Vineyard Soccer (FOVS), Martha’s Vineyard’s youth soccer organization, announced the election January 9 of a new president, David Wallis, and board of directors for 2014.
Mr. Wallis takes over from Richard Bennett, who served the organization for three years. Mr. Bennett will remain on the board. Mr. Wallis has been involved with FOVS as a parent, coach, or board member for 11 years, according to a press release.
His goals include a continued focus on developing a strong recreational program, implementation of a new registration process and website, review of the league’s playing spaces, more focused and dedicated leadership by the board, and expanded participation in league matters by a broader segment of the soccer population.
Newly elected board members and officers include Rocco Bellebuono, executive vice president; Kelly Hess, board secretary; David Smith, treasurer; and Esteban Aranzabe, Richard Bennett, Damon Burke, Manny Estrella, Zachary Frangos, Oliver Holmes, Hillary Noyes Keene, Primo Lombardi, Matei Mateev, Matt Poole, Brad Pouliot, Jeremy Provost, Kristen Reimann, Peggy Stone, Steve Taylor, and Trip Wadleigh.
Friends of Vineyard Soccer is an entirely volunteer run organization and encourages more people to be involved in providing the great game of soccer to Island youth.
