Eighth-grade girls hoopsters now 12-0

The Vineyard eighth-grade girls travel hoops team picked up two home wins over the weekend to remain unbeaten, at 12-0, with one week left in the regular season.

The girls beat Barnstable, 45-26, in the opener, breaking the game open by starting the second half with a 12-0 run. Molly deBettencourt paced the Vineyard with 15 points. Clare Naughton had eight points and Lily Piggott added seven more.

Plymouth North was next to visit the Island and left on the short end of a 48-27 score. Devin Hill and Molly deBettencourt were the high scorers with 14 points each. Clare Naughton totaled 10.

The Vineyard finishes up the regular season this weekend with road games at Dartmouth and Falmouth.
