The Vineyard varsity girls basketball team lost two and won one in the past week. Monday in Attleboro, Kat deBettencourt drained seven three-pointers and scored 25 points, but host Bishop Feehan won the Eastern Athletic Conference contest, 67-47. The Vineyarders are 7-6 overall and 1-3 in the EAC.

Saturday at the Sancy in Oak Bluffs, the girls were stung, 59-48, by the North Reading Hornets. The visitors broke open a one-point game, largely by excelling at the charity stripe. The Hornets were 14 for 17 from the line in the fourth quarter. Kat deBettencourt scored 21 points to lead the Vineyarders. Sam Hargy chipped in 10.

The bright spot came January 16 in North Dartmouth as the girls earned their first EAC win of the season in a 42-38 victory over Bishop Stang. Sam Hargy was the high scorer with 16 points. Erin Hill had a great game at both ends of the floor, scoring 15 points to go with eight blocks.

Jayvees drop three

The jayvee girls fell to 5-5 after three tough losses. Emily Turney scored 11 of her team’s 15 points in a loss to Bishop Feehan on Monday. Lacey Dinning had two strong games, scoring 13 in a 48-27 loss to North Reading Saturday and 10 on January 16 in a 55-20 setback at Bishop Stang.
