Island astrologer Arlan Wise shares her astrological forecasts with us each week on Mondays. This column is like a cosmic weather report. It is written for everyone based on the sign the moon is in that day and what the planets are doing. Don’t be confused by the signs. This is not like the usual Sun sign astrology columns you see. January ushers in a year when there will be a lot of action, much change and transformation, and plenty of loss and gain. Venus is retrograde in Capricorn for the whole month and she asks you to review everything that has to do with love and money. Let go of and discard the things you no longer treasure so you can make room for new delights.

2014 will be one of those years that you remember. Get ready for change, and, to paraphrase Bette Davis, fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Here is the forecast for the week of January 27- February 2. This is the last week of Venus in retrograde motion. She will turn direct in the afternoon on January 31. Wind down and finish up the projects you’ve worked on this month. Get ready to launch your new work by the end of the week. The first few days of February are special because they are the short window between Venus in retrograde motion and Mercury turning retrograde on February 6.  Use those days to shop, buy tickets for travel, negotiate and sign deals and documents, and get your car and computer fixed.

January 27 – Moon in Sagittarius, VC 5:02 pm. You can start the day and the week full of enthusiasm and optimism. Make decisions while looking forward to new ways of doing and being. This is a good day to sell your ideas and projects. Apply for a job or a grant. Contact friends and colleagues who are far away and see how you can help each other.

January 28 – Moon in Capricorn. It’s a serious day, one where you buckle down to work and keep plugging away.  Set your goals for the next few months and be realistic about what you can accomplish. You’ll see the way to reduce excess and work with more efficiency. You can bring your ideas into form and make them happen. Stay warm in both body and spirit.

January 29 – Moon in Capricorn, VC 11:47 am. Continue on with what you were doing yesterday. You want to focus and not spread yourself too thin. The Sun dances with Uranus and they encourage you to think big unusual thoughts and make plans to do what you’ve always wanted to do. They bring excitement to the day. Tonight is the dark of the moon – go out and see the stars.

January 30 – Moon in Aquarius. Today’s new moon receives twinkles from Uranus who wants you to understand the power of thought. You can reprogram your brain to behave better and think in a more positive manner. Meditate in a group to feel the strength of concentrated thoughts. Be a good influence on others. Pray for peace.

January 31 – Moon in Aquarius, VC from 11:45 am until 10:45 pm when it enters Pisces. Venus turns direct at 3:49 pm. Mercury enters Pisces to bring poetry and compassion to your thinking. He lets your right brain have more influence over your life. Jupiter and Pluto meet to bring up unsolved home and family vs. career dilemmas. Ride the energy but make no big moves today.

February 1 – Moon in Pisces. Take some time to readjust to the different energy pattern that comes from Venus being once again in direct motion. Stay active and get things done. There are only a few days before Mercury turns retrograde, so you need to fight the desire to lay back and dream the time away and shop, make reservations, and make important deals.

February 2 – Moon in Pisces, VC 11:34 am. Stay busy during the morning hours. You can slide through the day once the moon turns void. It’s Groundhog Day. Watch the movie again, even if you’ve seen it many times, that’s the point of it. See how you can apply its teachings to aspects in your own life.  Think of spirals instead of circles.
