With one week left in the RCBL regular season, the Bulls have a one-game lead atop the standings after a 98-86 loss to the second-place Heat Monday night at the Boys and Girls Club in Edgartown. The Heat (6-5), ice cold during a four-game losing streak, suddenly were en fuego. The Bulls (7-4) dropped their second straight.

The Heat torched the Bulls for 38 points in the first quarter, building an 18-point lead. The game threatened to get out of the hand by halftime with the Heat ahead, 62-41, but the Bulls chipped away and made a game of it over the final 24 minutes.

The Heat’s Nick Viera led all scorers with 38 points. John Neto had 15, Tim Scott scored 13, and Lucas Brewer added 11. Brant Silvia totaled 29 for the Bulls, followed by Anthony Johnson (27), Jared Silvia (16), and Jack Fielding (12).

In the nightcap of the Monday doubleheader, the Lakers rebounded from a 48-41 halftime deficit and cooled off the Suns, winners of three straight, with a 93-77 victory. Laker captain Heath Estrella scored 21 points, Jeff Labell had 20, Sterling Bishop 17, James Rolston 14, and Pat Rolston 10. Asil Cash led the Suns and all scorers with 32 points. Paul Linderson added 18 and Jade Cash had 13 more.
