Oak Bluffs firefighters will practice firefighting and rescue techniques under realistic conditions this Sunday morning, February 9. Acting fire chief John Rose said firefighters will set fires in a house located at 255 Massachusetts Avenue off East Chop that was recently sold and is scheduled to be torn down.

The drill will afford firefighters a realistic practice scenario, Mr. Rose said. The drill is scheduled to begin at approximately 8:30 am and finish about 1 pm.

Thank you to the OB Firefighters, who I believe are mostly volunteers, for risking their safety, working hard and giving their time to help ensure our safety. We’re lucky to have these gentlemen and ladies!
