Happy Valentine’s Day, one and all, or as I like to call it, yet another excuse to eat too many Chilmark Chocolates Day.

Tonight at the Library there will be a Valentine’s Day chocolate tasting at 5 pm, there will be beverages and a romantic movie as well. On February 25 at 2 pm there will be a LEGO competition: come one, come all and demonstrate your skill at building with little plastic blocks. On February 27 at 5 pm there will be dinner and a movie for kids.

Joan LeLacheur’s wampum jewelry will be available in two places for Valentine’s shopping — at  Pathway’s from 11 am 4 pm on Thursday and Friday and at Studioshop located at 99 Dukes County Ave in Oak Bluffs, where they are holding a special Valentine’s Day sale. Along with Joanie’s jewelry there will be flowers, Not Your Sugar Mama’s chocolates, and clothes and accessories from Kenworthydesigns. Call 774-563-0824 for more information and to order flowers ahead.

Pathways will also be hosting an evening of love songs hosted by Rick Padilla this Saturday from 7 to 9 pm.

Shakespeare for the Masses will be performing “Coriolanus” on Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday at 2 pm at the Katharine Cornell Theater in Vineyard Haven. I’ll be on stage along with a whole group of really talented people and it’s free.

The Town of Aquinnah is seeking to hire a qualified individual to assist the Save the Gay Head Lighthouse Committee with all aspects of the relocation and restoration project. Duties include assisting with preparing and filing permits, grant applications, merchandising, marketing, promotions and events and overall project organization.

This position is for an independent contractor who will work off-site and will be paid on an hourly basis for 15 hours per week.  Letter of interest and resume should be mailed to Adam Wilson, Town Administrator, Town of Aquinnah, 65 State Rd., Aquinnah, MA 02535, or emailed to aqbos@comcast.net by February 24.

A recent resignation has left Aquinnah short on representation to the MV Commission. If any resident is interested in serving the town to this important regional body until December 2014, please contact Planning Board Chairman Peter Temple at 508-645-3256

The Save the Gay Head Lighthouse Committee would like to thank everyone who participated in their heating oil raffle. A special thanks to Cliff Karako of Vineyard Propane for making this winter fundraiser possible by donating the perfect prizes for this brutally cold winter. With community support like this the Gay Head Light will keep on shining for years to come. And a hearty congratulations to the winners of 100 gallons of heating oil and 100 gallons of propane, Robin Wingate and Joe Uva.

The Chilmark School PTO fundraiser was a huge success and Buddy Vanderhoop did an excellent job as auctioneer for the live auction. There were many wonderful items to be had in both auctions and it was such a great group of people to spend a Saturday night with. If you haven’t heard it already, you can go to mothstoryhour.org and hear Buddy’s tall tale of a near fishing disaster. It’s a good story.

A very happy birthday to Albert Fischer whose birthday is today. And happy birthday to summer resident Rachel Helana who celebrates on Friday.
