Boys Get Sandwich, Girls Against Algonquin in Tourney Openers

The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School (MVRHS) boys varsity hockey team (13-5-2) is seeded sixth in the 18-team Division Two South Sectional state tournament and will play 11-seed Sandwich (8-7-3) in first-round action, The Mass. Inter-Scholastic Athletic Assn.(MIAA) announced on Saturday.

Both teams received a bye in the preliminary round. The date, location and time of the game are to be announced. The winner of the game will play the winner of the third-seeded Medfield- 14th-seed Quincy game.

The MVRHS girls team (11-6-3) is seeded 14th in the 28-team Division Two South bracket and will face off against 19 seed Algonquin (9-7-4) in the preliminary round.The date, location and time of the game are to be announced. The winner of the game will play third-seeded Falmouth High School which received a bye in the preliminaries.
