After eight months of construction, Copper Wok is ready to open.

Island restaurateur JB Blau announced that the new Copper Wok restaurant on Main Street in Vineyard Haven will open Saturday, March 8. The restaurant, under construction for almost one year, will serve Chinese, Thai, Japanese, and Vietnamese dishes, along with sake, beer, and wine. Mr. Blau will operate the restaurant with his business partner Alex Nagi, who will be the executive chef at Copper Wok.

“I’ve been wanting to write this post for 8 months,” Mr. Blau said in a social media post announcing the opening. “It finally begins.”

Mr. Blau said that the opening day will feature four separate parties scheduled at 12 noon, 3 pm, 6 pm, and 9 pm. A fifth party is scheduled for 6 pm, Sunday, March 9.

Mr. Blau said he will first offer opening party tickets to people on his text list, an extensive list of mostly local customers who have signed up to receive promotions and notices. The remaining tickets will be made available on the restaurant’s Facebook page, and his email list of customers, he said. The parties will feature a selection of food, and money raised from the admission ticket price of $15 to $25 will be donated to the Martha’s Vineyard Boys and Girls Club, according to Mr. Blau.

Mr. Blau is also the owner of the popular Sharky’s Mexican restaurants in Oak Bluffs and Edgartown and Martha’s Vineyard Chowder Company in Oak Bluffs.

Last February, Mr. Blau announced he made an agreement with Mansion House owners Susan and Sherm Goldstein to operate a restaurant in the space formerly occupied by Zephrus restaurant.
