The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School boys hockey team pulled out an overtime win against Sandwich High School, winning 2-1 in the opening round of state tournament play at the Martha’s Vineyard Arena Tuesday evening.

Senior co-captains Tyson Araujo and Brian Fraser scored the goals. Tyson Araujo got the overtime game winner. Wyatt Jenkinson had 12 saves in the net for Martha’s Vineyard.

The win puts the Vineyarders in the South Regional quarterfinal series against the winner of the Medfield-Quincy game to be played Thursday night.

This article was updated to reflect a correction. Brian Fraser scored the first goal for Martha’s Vineyard, not Tyson Araujo.
