Agawam of the Valley Hockey League repeated as Red Kennedy Mite tournament champions with a 7-2 win over Martha’s Vineyard Sunday morning at the MV Arena. The hosts were down, 5-0, after two periods but played with grit in the third, when Nick BenDavid scored twice.

Aside from a 5-0 loss to Agawam in Friday night’s round robin opener, the Vineyard team was a perfect three for three.

Saturday morning, M.V. roared back from a 6-4 third period deficit with three goals in the final six minutes to beat the Minuteman Lady Sparks 7-6. Nick BenDavid notched a four-goal “Texas” hat trick. Parker Blake tallied twice and Seamus McKeon once.

In the afternoon contest, the Vineyard racked up five goals in the first period and six more in the second, en route to an 11-0 win over the Brewins. Nick BenDavid lit the lamp five times, along with Parker Blake (2), Ingrid Gundersen, Frankie Paciello, Chase Grant, and Micah Simmons. Zachary Mathias earned the shutout in net.

The Vineyard closed out round robin play with a 9-3 romp over the North Shore Ice Hawks Sunday morning. Parker Blake and Nick BenDavid potted four goals apiece, while Ingrid Gundersen scored the final tally with 6:20 to play.
