Health and film events

To the Editor:

This past weekend we were treated to an extraordinary couple of events, beginning at 8 am, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital’s Annual Health Fair. Upon prompt arrival at the designated opening, I was mightily impressed to witness the amazing organization already in place at that early hour, with innumerable booths, various delectable food offerings, brochures, bracelets, carry totes, drinks, plus massage tables in the different hallways.

Opportunities for various kinds of free testing were available also, and informed and pleasant staff gladly  responded to our queries. It was indeed a most positive experience, and now loaded with information, I have leisure at home to devote to absorbing all the useful accumulated data so liberally provided. A most sincere and hearty appreciation from all of us attendees to our hospital and all the organizations who gave so freely of their time on a Saturday morning to make this event such a resounding success.

Next, Chilmark’s annual and ever growing in popularity Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival, at both the school and the Community Center impressed me with their scrupulous planning, imaginative decor, delectable meals, comfy sofas, and superb choice of films to enlighten, amuse, or even overwhelm us emotionally. Credit goes to Tom Bena and Brian Ditchfield, both responsible for all. Their vision, commitment, enthusiasm, and ever-increasing experience make this annual event one not to be missed. Loved the eight films I viewed and only wish it were possible to have viewed them all. Remarkable choices of films. all so different. Congratulations, and let us not forget their supportive staff who contributed to make the event so spectacular. Thank you all.
