Jeremy Alley-Tarter of Edgartown didn’t need the luck of the Irish to win the 16th annual Ocean View St. Patty’s Dayish 5K Run and Fitness Walk Sunday morning. The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School senior track standout smoked the field by 2:42, finishing the East Chop course in 17:15. Sixty-Eight runners completed the race out of 83 registered.
The running conditions were brisk but comfortable, with a steady breeze and temperatures in the low 40’s, under high overcast skies.
Jeremy’s MVRHS track teammates took positions two through four and six. George Sykes was second in 19:57, followed by Patrick Best (19:59), Daniel Gaines (20:24), Sam Harlow (20:36), and Nick Fecitt (20:43) in sixth.
Bonnie Kingsbury of Edgartown was the women’s winner, crossing the line seventh overall in 20:50. Nevin Wallis was eighth (21:07), Harrison Dorr ninth (23:11), and women’s runner-up Kelly Klaren rounded out the top ten (23:13).
