The Martha’s Vineyard Museum curators are looking for photos taken on Martha’s Vineyard during any portion of the 1960s. Curators want to see any you may have and will be available this Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm in their library.

The MV Museum exhibit, “A Taste for the Exotic,” closes April 26. Don’t miss a glimpse of the many different objects Vineyard mariners brought home as they traveled in east Asia, the Pacific Island, and the far north. Islanders get in free on winter Saturdays.

“Twelve Years a Slave” will be shown on Tuesday at 7 pm at the Vineyard Haven Library. The Oscar went to this as best picture. It is the story of a free black man from upstate New York who is abducted and sold into slavery. Rated R. Free popcorn and lemonade. More Oscar nominees will be shown on Tuesdays in April.

Jeremy Berlin will entertain the little ones at the Vineyard Haven Library on Tuesday, April 1. Then on April 3, at 4 pm, more Wicked Awesome Supah Fun with Corinne Dorsey. This activity is for children five and older.

Summer Art Camp at Featherstone is ready for you to register your camper at 508-693-1850. There are different classes, from jewelry making to painting masters, for different age groups. Magic Garden highlights the process of painting and drawing for ages 3 to 6. 3D art sounds fascinating for 7 to 11. The child can explore art and nature or clay or, for 11 and up, jewelry making.

ACE offers a meditation stretch class every Wednesday and a gerontology overview on Wednesday, April 16. Gerontology is the study of the social, psychological, and biological aspects of aging. Janet Holladay will introduce you to the Yoruba Religion on April 17. Spring courses are posted on www.acemv.org.

The Bunch of Grapes offers Saturday afternoon readings by ACE Authors. John Hough Jr. and his writing group members will read on Saturday, April 5, at 3 pm. Cynthia Riggs and her Writing Group Members are scheduled for 3 pm on April 12.

The MV Center for Living support the monthly 55+ in the MV TIMES and special events for seniors. They offer a taxi service for seniors’ medical appointments on Cape Cod, for a small monetary donation for islanders. They also coordinate food commodities distributed at the senior centers and the Baptist Church.

Wine and a matinee benefit the MV Center for Living is Sunday, April 13, at 4 pm at the MV Film Society Center. Tickets are $25 or $20 for members. Wine, hors d’oeuvres and mini-desserts will be offered before a showing of “Away From Her,” a movie starring Julie Christie: A marital relationship is strained when the wife is sent to an Alzheimer’s facility. While there, the wife falls in love with another patient in view of her husband and family. Witnessing both her happiness and her cognitive decline is heartwarming and heartbreaking.

You may have seen Phyllis Dunn’s photos of the Vineyard at our library. More will be on display at the Chilmark Library in April.

A special program called Art & Memory is coming up for people with memory loss. Space is limited. It will be on Mondays at 10:30 am beginning April 7. This is a collaboration between Featherstone Center for the Arts, Martha’s Vineyard Museum and Windemere Nursing Rehabilitation Center. Call Mary Holmes 1-508-862-1933.

Ten local artists have been selected to show their work at the MV Film Center. Selections were based on technical and aesthetic criteria, as well as a balance of media suitable for The Feldman Family Art Space. The artists are Leslie Baker, Alan Brigish, Neil Goodwin, Cindy Kane, Elizabeth Langer, Marie-Louise Rouff, Donna Straw, Dan Vanlandingham, Janet Woodcock and Ed Schulman. Show dates will be announced soon.

Bring your computers, monitors, televisions, printers, notebooks, copiers, scanners, air conditioners, stereo equipment, dehumidifiers, cell phones, microwaves, fax machines, refrigerators, washers, dryers, and ranges. Prices range from $2 to $30; 10 percent off for carloads. Mice and keyboards free of charge. Final disposal is off-Island and environmentally friendly. Big bunches of birthday balloon wishes go out tomorrow to Hank and Linda Unczur. They both celebrate on the 28th. Wish a happy one to Dale McClure that day as well. Saturday belongs to Kaleena Searle and Kathleen Madeiros. Marco Daniels and Larry Sylvia party on Sunday. Happy birthday to Tom Zinno on Wednesday.
