Alex Clark, a senior on the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School girls varsity hockey team, received the prestigious 2014 MIAA/Boston Bruins Sportsmanship Award, on March 17 during intermission of the Bruins-Minnesota Wild game at TD Garden.

The Bruins and the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) present the award annually to one individual from the first place team in each high school ice hockey league in the state who exemplifies the highest standards of fair play and sportsmanship.

Martha’s Vineyard girls varsity hockey coach John Fiorito helped nominate Alex, who represented the Southeastern Mass Girls Hockey League (SEMGHL).

This season, the Vineyard girls won the SEMGHL’s Southeastern Division, to claim the first league title in the program’s history.
