The girls tennis team had a tough home debut Saturday on the purple courts at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School against non-league Notre Dame of Hingham. The Lady Cougars left the Island with a 5-0 win.

The Vineyarders fought hard minus the services of first singles starter Sam Potter but couldn’t gain a point. The first doubles team of Diamond Araujo and Avery Hazell had the best day in a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Maggie Lewis and Meg Flaherty. Josie Iadicicco moved up to first singles, Charlotte Potter played second singles and Amandine Muniz played third singles. Madison McBride and Charlotte Hammond were the second doubles tandem.

The Vineyarders opened the season April 2 with a 4-1 loss at Cape Cod Academy. Sam Potter won the first singles match.

The girls opened the Eastern Athletic Conference schedule Wednesday against Bishop Stang and host Bishop Feehan in another league match Friday at 3 pm.
