Spring travel soccer underway


Five Martha’s Vineyard (MV United) South Coast Soccer League teams took to the pitch last weekend to start the spring travel soccer season.

The MV United Under-14 division 2 girls chalked up a 7-0 win Saturday in Bourne. Evelyn Medeiros and Marissa D’Antonio each tallied twice; Olivia Pouliot, Mackenzie Condon, and Rose Engler each put one in the onion bag. Keeper Brianna De Oliveira earned the clean sheet in net. Meghan Sawyer, Cora Lee Larue, and Thea Keene were other standouts.

The girls U-11 MVU Shockers lost at Falmouth, 6-0.

In SCSL action at Veterans Park in Vineyard Haven, the U-18 boys beat Oceana of North Eastham, 4-0, the U-15 boys downed Norton, 6-1, and the U-14 B division boys blanked Wareham, 5-0.
