Vineyarders split track meet with Coyle Cassidy

The Vineyard girls notched an 82-54 Eastern Athletic Conference win over host Coyle Cassidy of Taunton April 10, while the boys fell to the Warriors, 71-61. Both Vineyard teams are 1-1.

The girls won ten events. Katherine Dorr placed first in the triple jump (31’ 3.5”) and the 400 meters (67.9). Other Vineyard winners included Sabrina Reppert in the javelin (86’ 9”); Olivia Smith, high jump (4’ 6”); Julia Neville, long jump (13’ 4”); Pearl Vercruysse, mile (6:24); Mary McCarthy, 800 meters (2:39); Mariah Campbell, high hurdles (19.3); and Willow Wunsch, two miles (14:36). The 4 x 400 relay team of Katherine Dorr, Sabrina Reppert, Mary McCarthy, and Julia Neville won in 5:04.

The highlight for the boys came in a sweep of the long jump. Ennis Foster was first (17’ 10”), followed by Chase Sylvia (17’ 8.25”) and Joe Turney (17’ 6”). Andrew Jacobs-Walsh threw the shot farthest (38’), Joe Turney won the javelin (146’), Chase Sylvia took the high jump (5’ 6”), and Jeremy Alley-Tarter won the mile (4:41). Vineyarders Paul Robinson, Jullyo Lima, Joe Turney, and Jake Janak also prevailed in the 4 x 100 relay.

The girls and boys teams hosted their first dual meet of the season April 16 against EAC rival Somerset Berkley.
