Friday there will be a free forum dealing with questions about Alzheimer’s at the Hebrew Center from 9 am to 12 noon. Call 508-939-9440 to register.

On Saturday you can visit Island Alpaca for the Annual Shearing Day. From 10 am to 5 pm you can get up close to these gentle, curious creatures. There is a lovely farm store as well. Island Alpaca is located of Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road in Oak Bluffs.

Now that Grace Church has a fresh new space, they invite you to a fried chicken dinner from 12 noon to 1:30 pm on Sunday. This is the first step in raising money for a new furnace. Cost is $12, children under 12 cost $7, eat in or take out. Call 508-693-0332 for advance orders.

The Tisbury Senior Center invites you to a lunch break next Monday. Join Susie Bowman from Felix Neck and Sandy from the Tisbury Senior Center for the first of the Spring Discovery walks. Ms. Bowman is a teacher/naturalist at Massachusetts Audubon Felix Neck. She has a wealth of knowledge and understanding about our natural habitats. Bring a sandwich to eat while Susie tells you what to look for in the Land Bank properties in Tisbury. Cookies and drinks will be available at the center.

After the talk, the group will depart for the guided walk where you may see a mourning cloak butterfly on a woodland path. You will look for wild geranium or starflower emerging and walk on a glacial ridge. Wear comfortable shoes or boots; spray will be provided. The trails are wide, mown, and prepped. In the event of a windy downpour of rain, call the center. The talk and walk program will be one and a half hours. All are welcome. The walk will not be strenuous. The intent is to discover the wonder of nature. Call Sandy at 508-696-4205 with questions and to register. There is no fee.

Voters will have a chance to meet Melinda Loberg, who is a candidate for selectman, at the Tisbury Senior Center at 1 pm on Thursday, May 8. Hear her ideas about the future of our town and share your thoughts and concerns. Mark your calendar. Refreshments will be served.

While you are marking your calendar, town meeting is Tuesday, April 29 at 7 pm at the Tisbury School. The Tisbury election is on Tuesday, May 13.

For Vineyarders interested in a summer job or who want to add another skill, the Mansion House Health Club offers American Red Cross Life Saving certification. Participants learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills. Aquatics Director Jennifer Fragosa teaches through videos, group discussion, and hands-on practice. The course teaches the knowledge and skills to recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to prevent drowning and injuries. Register at the Mansion House. The course meets at Mansion House Pool.

Best wishes for a very happy birthday on Wednesday goes to Andrew Williamson. And also to his twin, Ellie Williamson, who celebrates on Thursday.
