The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School track teams hosted their first meet of the season April 16 and came up short against Eastern Athletic Conference rival Somerset Berkley. The Raiders won the girls meet, 82-54, and the boys meet, 72-63.

The boys placed first in five of six field events. Andrew Jacobs-Walsh won the shot put (35’ 3”), Kevin Montambault was tops in the discus (105’), Joe Turney took the javelin (139’ 9”) and long jump (18’ 10.5”), and Chase Silvia leaped 5’ 8” to win the high jump.

On the track, Jeremy Alley-Tarter won the 800 meters (2:05) and the two-mile run (10:44.2), while Kevin Montambault placed first in the 110-meter high hurdles (16.9).

The Vineyard girls won six events. Grace Oslyn threw the discus farthest (64’ 6.5”), Sabrina Reppert won the javelin (96’), Olivia Smith was first in both the high jump (4’ 10”) and the 400-meter hurdles (71.6), Pearl Vercruysse won the mile (6:30), and Mary McCarthy took the 800 meters (2:43).

Correction: In an earlier version of this story, the last name of Chase Silvia was incorrectly spelled Sylvia.
