William H. Allen of Brockton died on Friday, April 11, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston. He was 72,
William was born in Rockland to the late Leslie and Margaret (King) Allen. William was raised on Martha’s Vineyard where he graduated from Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School. He was known in his yearbook as Froggy.
Continuing his education, William graduated from Eastern Nazarene College with a degree in business. He worked for the state of Massachusetts as a state inspector.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary E. (Haliday) Allen.
He is survived by his fiancée, Nancy Smart; his children, Michael, Lisa, and Sonja Allen of Bridgewater; and his grandchildren, Lache, Michelle, and Khalia King-Allen of Bridgewater. He is also survived by his siblings Benjamin Allen of New Hampshire, Anthony and Herbert Allen of Boston, Flora and Josephine Allen of New Bedford, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Leslie and Ralph Allen.
William was laid to rest on April 16 in the Pine Hill Cemetery of West Bridgewater, with a beautiful drumming ceremony performed by tribal members Tobias Vanderhoop, Ryan Malonson, Cheryl Andrews-Maltais, and Jonathan Perry.
