The Chilmark General Store will open for the season on Monday, May 12, and there are some significant changes, owners and Chilmark residents Jennifer LoRusso and Joel Glickman announced.
The store has launched a new website, chilmarkgeneralstore.com, where visitors will be able to see seasonal menus, hours, and “the porch” link with news and events from their Facebook page. The store also plans to introduce delivery service this season with a limited schedule and delivery zone, according to a press release.
“Since 2012, we have been growing our own produce in our garden in Chilmark supplying our kitchen and market with fresh locally grown produce and eggs grown just 1.5 miles away,” Ms. LoRusso said. “We will continue to expand our supply of produce and products from the many local farms and businesses we support today.”
That includes the addition of local meat to the “Island Grown” pizza. “In 2014, the majority of all meat on Chilmark General Store’s menu will be hormone and antibiotic-free, including 100 percent of our chicken and turkey and most of our pork and beef,” she said.
