Fire consumes West Tisbury shed, damages nearby house

West Tisbury firefighters were called out about 6 pm on Friday, May 30, to extinguish a shed fire at the home of Claudia Canerdy on Firetower Road off Christiantown Road in West Tisbury.

“The fire had fully involved the shed where it started in a woodstove and was burning so hot it ignited the side of the house about 25 feet away,” fire chief Manuel Estrella, III told The Times. “We contained the house fire and a small brush fire. The shed was nothing but flames when we got there. It was totally gone.”

The Tisbury fire department sent a pumper to the West Tisbury station number 2 to assist.
