Celtics great John Havlicek hosts 33d Genesis Foundation fishing tournament

Retired Boston Celtics great John Havlicek will host the 33d annual Celebrity Fishing Tournament on Saturday, June 7, part of a four-day event to benefit The Genesis Foundation for Children. The foundation funds coordinated care and diagnosis for children born with physical and intellectual disabilities and genetic disorders, according to a press release.

Genesis board members expected to participate include Hall of Famer and former Red Sox Carlton Fisk, former Celtics coach Chris Ford, and former Bruin Jay Miller.

The event starts on June 5 and includes golf and tennis competitions along with a special dinner and auction Friday night at the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown emceed by retired WCVB-TV newscaster Susan Wornick.

Dr. Murray Feingold founded the organization 32 years ago that recently changed its name to The Genesis Foundation. Proceeds from the tournament help The Genesis Foundation support The Feingold Center at Boston Children’s Hospital and its five satellite clinics. For more information www.thegenfound.org.
