Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands held its 41st Annual Meeting on May 13. At the event the organization honored Daniel Cabot of West Tisbury along with ten other recipients.

In a press release, Elder Services director Nancy Wolf said that Mr. Cabot has been a Meals-on-Wheels driver for fifteen years. “He delivers every Friday in Vineyard Haven and knows the consumers well,” Ms. Wolf wrote. “He takes his time on his route to enjoy conversations as he goes from house to house. Dan pays attention and reports his concerns to the Martha’s Vineyard Nutrition Program Coordinator.”

Mr. Cabot will continue to assist in the recruitment of Meals-on-Wheels volunteers by promoting the volunteer opportunity as a rewarding avenue of community service. She said that Mr. Cabot has been described as “kind, friendly, a good conversationalist and someone who listens.”

Retiring to the Vineyard following a career in education, Mr. Cabot also serves the community as a member of the Up Island Regional School District Committee, the Regional High School Committee and as a volunteer for Read Martha’s Vineyard.
