William T .“Mac” McSweeney Sr. (Ret. Lt. Randolph Police Dept.) of Edgartown and formerly of Randolph died on June 23, 2014 at the age of 84.
Born in Boston, Bill grew up in Dorchester. He lived in Randolph for many years before retiring to Edgartown and Florida. He retired as a Lieutenant from the Town of Randolph Police Dept., where he had served for 31 years. During his retirement he enjoyed gardening and traveling and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was the beloved husband for 60 years of Evelyn M. (Shannon) McSweeney; the loving father of William “Bill” McSweeney Jr. of Randolph, Karen Palmer of Hanover, John “Jack” McSweeney of Hanover, Mary McSweeney of Randolph, Brian McSweeney of Hanover, and Susan McSweeney of Hawaii; and the devoted brother of John McSweeney of Braintree. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
