The Martha’s Vineyard Women’s Softball League is in double elimination playoff mode.

In Tuesday night’s first matchup at 6 pm, Mama’s Girls beat the Snaps 15 to 7 to advance to the league finals next Tuesday, August 19.

The Rug Sox narrowly beat the Shady Ladies, 11 to 10. The Rug Sox stay scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to eliminate the Shadies. Allie Clark hit a walk-off single, scoring Jen Ingraham with the winning run.

In the late games Tuesday, the Creamers eliminated the Rug Sox in a 24–18 slugfest. The Creamers led, 13–3, until the Sox battled back to tie the game with 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth. Creamers pulled away with five runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Thursday, August 14, at 6 pm at Veterans Park, the elimination game will feature defending league champion Snaps vs. Creamers. The winner of that game plays Mama’s Girls in the finals Tuesday, August 19.

Mama’s Girls are unbeaten in the playoffs and only need to beat the Snaps or Creamers once to win the championship. Because the Snaps and Creamers have already lost once, either team would have to beat the Mama’s twice to win title.
