Competing for the second year in a row, the Martha’s Vineyard entrants in the Gateway Fall Ball baseball league are off to great starts. The 12- and 13-year-old team is 4-0 with victories over Gateway 18-4, Sandwich 12-2, Lower Cape Royal 8-1, and Lower Cape Red 21-2. Likewise, the 14- and 15-year-old team is off to an equal 4-0 start with victories over Mashpee 14-1, Sandwich 6-5, Dennis Yarmouth 3-0, and Bourne 12-0.

The Fall Ball League extends the competitive baseball season for Little League alumni who are in preparation for both Babe Ruth and high school play. Fall Ball games consist of a weekly doubleheader on Sundays, on the mainland, through the month of October. The two teams are coached by a combination of David Smith, Ernie Chaves, Mike Michalski, and Harold Lawry.
