Stop and Shop store manager Mary McEvoy, recently presented checks from the Food for Friends fundraising program to Leslie Clapp, right, director of the Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living.

Stop and Shop’s Food for Friends Program supports local hunger-relief organizations in the communities it serves, according to a press release. Customers, associates, and partners support the program, and 100 percent of the funds raised go directly to community food pantries and regional food banks. In 2014, Stop and Shop’s 213 New England stores raised just over $1 million through the Food for Friends program.
